These buildings are likely to be demolished soon. These buildings have a storied past and viable future. At some point we have to stop standing by and watching historical buildings decay and rot. Then when they reach a
certain point declare them to be too old and demolish them.

The Innovation park website states: The Eschweiler Buildings are the planned centerpiece of the Housing zone for Innovation Park. In supporting the rezoning of the site, a district Master Plan, and a taxpayer-funded $12.5M Tax Incremental Financing District, the public received assurances that the rehabilitation of the Eschweiler buildings would be a central component to any plans for new development.

This is also close to the only Monarch butterfly roosting spot in Milwaukee County that is threatened by this and/or freeway development, but that is a separate issue.
